Do It Yourself projects!

We have done  many things in the house by ourselves. We transformed furniture, walls and fabrics with a lot of work but without spending a fortune!

Office room

This is our tiny office room! The smallest room in the house was the biggest problem for us (which we solved after 3 years)! Dimitris wanted to make it a playroom with video games.. I wanted to make it a nice office with a nook bed next to the window.. Finally we created something in between ;)

We found these two amazing chairs
at the garbages!

The entrance :
We still have to change some things, like the poster and the lighting. As soon as we find something nice, we are going to change it :)

Fireplace

It is getting colder in Athens and since we rarely use the fireplace, I decided to decorate it! I used this old cement tiles which my uncle kept when he renovated an old church. I also added this lantern and I think that 1-2 more of them will look great :)

Mon "mur projet"..c'est fini!!

It all started with that empty wall that I didn't like..Finally, I decided to put small vintage photo frames.  I started collecting the frames on November 2012.

I knew that it would take a lot of time to finish the project, because I wanted to choose each of them and mix & match them carefully. I bought all of them from the Old Market in Monastiraki. Every Sunday the junk dealers create a beautiful bazaar with old staff that they find in the garbages or in old houses. I didn't spend more than 2-3 euros for each frame apart from two of them (which I bought).

At the beginning I drew the outline of each frame on a paper and then I used to stick the paper on the wall with paper tape. This was very helpful (actually, I was extremely lucky that I found this advice online…) because at the very beginning I didn't know where was the right place for each frame and I couldn't put 100 nails on the wall! After collecting 10-12 frames I decided to nail them on the wall and then I would have to search for very specific frames to fulfill the gaps.

It took a lot of time to finish but I enjoyed the process, putting together the parts of the broken frames (because some of them were completely destroyed), painting them, deciding which fabric or picture I would put inside.

And now, on August 2014 the project finished! I am very happy!!

At the beginning..                                                                      At the end..

It just took me 2 and a half years ..

La Salle de Bain

Welcome to my bathroom!! I will show you everything :)
The bathroom was already made when I moved into the house.. Under other circumstances I would have chosen colorful tiles and I would prefer a retro-boho aesthetic. Anyway, I did my best, trying to mix & match everything carefully. I had to follow the tiles' color and that's why I decided the light-blue and off-white deco. Hope you enjoy it!!
I am not the morning kind of person!
